Poetember 2018 – Ability (Elegy)

O’ what ability did we lose on that September morning?

Who’s potential was stopped short, and replaced with mourning?

Many watched as futures ended, on earth and in the air.

Yet here we are, some years later, and who just doesn’t care?

Oh the futures ended on that fateful September day.

As towers fell and planes went down in fire, dust and clay.

The art, literature and prose – futures gone without warning.

O’ what ability did we lose on that September morning?
